About Dr. Sasso

& The See Yah Project

Because your child deserves to be seen—beyond behavior, beyond bureaucracy, beyond bias.

Where It All Started

Hi, I'm Dr. Nadia Sasso.

I'm a researcher, creative, advocate—and a mother navigating the complex world of neurodiversity, mental health, and school systems with my daughter, Juju.

See Yah was born not from theory, but from necessity.

There was a time when I was constantly overwhelmed—by the paperwork, the calls from school, the misinterpretations, the meetings where I felt more managed than supported. Juju was struggling, and I was doing everything I could—but it felt like we were always reacting instead of leading.

It wasn't just parenting.

It was case management.

It was full-time project management—across 5 or more systems: school, mental health providers, insurance, regional centers, therapists, consultants.

And every one of them wanted a different version of her story.

Why See Yah Matters

As a researcher, I’ve seen the disparities play out—how race, class, and diagnosis shape the kind of support a child gets. How too often, parents of color are dismissed, judged, or simply not heard.

This platform is a response to that gap.

It’s for every caregiver who’s been told they’re asking for too much. For every child who’s been reduced to a file or behavior plan. For every moment when you knew something wasn’t right, but didn’t know where to start.

We are who we are because someone saw us first.

Legacy into Action

Why the Name “Siah” (Pronounced See Yah)

Because this is more than a project—it’s a legacy.

Growing up, my mom was the kind of woman who brought all the kids together.
She ran summer camps out of her own pocket, taught us to read, and built our self-esteem—whether we were her children, her nieces, or just part of the community.

She made us feel seen and heard, even when the world didn’t.

This project is a dedication to her—to her work,
to how she showed up for all of us.

If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have had the strength—or the vision—to get custody of Juju.
And I wouldn’t be here helping other caregivers find their voice, too.

“See Yah” is a play on her name, but it’s also a promise:
That your child will be seen.
That you will be seen.
That we’re doing this together.

Building the Tools That Shift Systems

I created one document to explain who Juju was.
Then a tracker to log behaviors and meetings.
Then a better way to write school letters.
Then a dashboard to keep it all in one place.

Something changed.

Suddenly, I wasn’t just reacting—I was advocating strategically.
I was seen as an expert—not a “difficult” parent.
Things started moving faster.
We started seeing results.
And most importantly, Juju started being understood.
